Walk After the Spirit

It is vital that, as Christians, we live from our born-again spirit.  Spirit is that place in us that is perfect, that is in communion with God.  In that place there is all the wisdom, knowledge and love we need for life.  It is all goodness.  There is no need for law or rules there because those are only restraints against wickedness.  Where there is love, peace, and goodness, there is no need for restraint!

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death…That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. — Romans 8:2, 3-5 KJV

Send love…

Today I was thinking critically about a friend and what I view as her hateful treatment of another dear friend.  She is full of anger and venom toward someone who, in my view, only means her well.

Holy Spirit was kind enough to interrupt my thoughts with a comment about the fact that critical, harsh thoughts toward another for their critical, harsh thoughts might be counterproductive.  It was definitely not “WJWD” (What Jesus Would Do for the neophyte!)

So, I stopped.  I created a picture of her in my mind as happy, loving, and fulfilling her mission and sent her blessings.  I have faith that it will change her more effectively than criticism.  No faith was needed, however, to see that it enlarged my own heart, leaving me happier,  more loving–more full of Jesus!

Chase Life!

Life.

Just when you think you’re about to “get it”, it flies away like the bird you chased around the yard with a salt shaker when you were five.  You followed that little bird, confident that if you could only shake a little salt on his tail you could grab and hold him.

But maybe the idea that we could, or should, get a grip on life is just as bogus as that myth about the bird’s tail.    We tend to believe that happiness lies in getting our lives under control.

Truth is, neither birds nor life will sit still for that!  Birds are amazing because they fly and a life that fits in the palm of your hand will never soar!

Better to follow life where it leads, chasing breathless and amazed!
