The Lord is My Shepherd

Good morning, my sweet Jesus!

Yours is the voice I need to hear this morning. Your voice is the whisper in the chaos. You will not shout to be heard above the TV, the internet, the voices that demand my attention and keep my head continually spinning and confused. Your voice is calm, steady, and reassuring. Your voice is true.

To hear what You have to say, I must distance myself from the noise and listen. As I give you my full attention and turn off the racket, I discover that your voice was never a whisper but always a roar–one that overwhelms me and shakes me with its veracity. Never passive, it calls me to a place of power, action, and change. Not because you demand it, but because it is irresistible.

22-24 Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.

25 But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.” – James 1:22-24 The Message

If I am blessed by Your Voice, Your Truth, and then rush back into the cacophony of the world, I become the double-minded man James speaks of, unstable in all my ways (James 1:8). Help me to keep my antenna tuned in Your Voice, Jesus. Be my guide and shepherd. Your sheep know your voice and will not follow the voice of a stranger (John 10:25, John 10:5).

Baa-aa!

Thank you! I love you!
